    Medium cut - Whole oat groats are boldly cut into 2 or 4 pieces to create this nutritious and great tasting cereal. These oats take a little longer to cook than rolled oats, have more texture and are digested more slowly, creating a lower GI.
     
    Just cut, so it is as close to its wholefood form as possible - which means more nutrients. Just soak overnight or cook in a thermal hot pot. We use a ThemoChef vacuum insulated thermal hot pot. No electricity or gas. Just insulated heat which stays VERY hot for 6+ hours. Tried, tested for all dishes leaving food tender, never overcooked.

    Cut grade choices: We have chosen the 'medium' cut grade of steel cut oats as a good inbetween cut size.

    Grades are: largest 'pinhead', then coarse, medium, fine.

    An ideal healthy breakfast porridge with a nuttier flavour than regular rolled oats.

    Basic Oats:
    Soak overnight for a quicker cook.
    Add 1 part steel cut oats and 3 parts liquid to a pot, pinch of salt and bring to boil, then reduce heat on low for 10-20 minutes. Cover  and stand for 2-3 minutes.
    When cooked add stewed fruit. Try cooking with dried fruit for added flavour. 
     
    Can also saute oats in Coconut Oil for a few minutes before boiling.

    Creamy Sweetened Porridge: 
    With     non-dairy milks, fruit juice, yoghurt, fresh or poached fruit, honey and a sprinkle of your favourite superfoods e.g. LSA - Linseed, Sunflower, Almonds.

    Anzac Biscuits: Mix 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup coconut, 1 cup whole grain flour and 3/4 cup rapadura sugar. Melt 125 g butter with 2 tbs golden syrup and 1 tsp bi-carb soda. Combine. Put flattened walnut size balls in 160degC oven for about 12 minutes.
